INTERNATIONAL SEMESTERS

Information for incoming students


Pre-conditions for Participation in the International Semester:

Only military Officer Cadets – with an appropriate military background – are foreseen to participate in the entire International Winter Semester.

The Officer Cadets' pre-conditions for participation in the entire International Semester are:

  • English language
    • The entire International Semester is offered in English language.
    • The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) Level B1 or NATO STANAG Level 2 is a requirement for Cadets' participation.
    • The Cadets' English level will be tested at the end of the first week. Those Cadets who will not fulfil the requirements will be repatriated.
  • National medical certificate
  • Fulfilling the respective national physical standards of the sending institution
  • Basic managerial and leadership competences, focused on basic tactical level (platoon or equivalent)
  • Understanding of the platoon level tactics and knowledge of national military decision making process
  • Basic negotiation and problem solving skills
  • Ability to plan, organise and accept responsibility
  • Civilian Students are not foreseen to participate in the entire semester.
  • Civilian Students and additional military Officer Cadets may participate in selected classes/modules.

Contents/Duration

The entire International Semester has 24 ECTS and lasts 3 months. This fulfils the requirements for ERASMUS+ support.

Almost all the Common Modules, which are an integral part of the Austrian accreditation, are also part of the International Semester.

A mixture of countries/institutions causes a better increase of intercultural competences; that is why a maximum of 2-3 Cadets per institution is desirable.

The procedure for the assignment of places is: first reported – first booked.
